Twisting With Sandy

With hurricane Sandy, I had the pleasure of having no work!  It is a forced day off that I am spending making jewelry :)  I may draw and paint a few pieces because I have the ENTIRE day off!! That usually NEVER happens!

I have been falling in love with making earrings and bracelets.  I really enjoy putting together the different bead combinations and twisting the wire to make each piece unique.  I had brought a few pieces to work and I unexpectedly sold 4 earrings and a bracelet and received an order for a bracelet and earring set!! Everyone seems to be enjoying them as much as I am, I'm thrilled!

Whenever I start to think about making a new bracelet or earring I first look over all the beads I have and think of what beads go together and what beads/ colors I would use together.  Majority of the time, if I wouldn't wear it myself I wouldn't make it unless it was a request.
Here are some of the pieces I have made (there are a lot!):

I love all of them!  I will be posting them this week on etsy.  I just cannot promise which ones will be up to sell and when this week.  Some of the beads I use I bought years ago and can't find again or I don't have multiples of the same beads.  Some of the bracelets and earrings are one of a kind.  If there are any specific ones you would like or if you have any requests please email me and I will put them off to the side for you or I will tell you when I will put them up on etsy so you can purchase it.  Please email me at:  savviedesigns@gmail.com.

Enjoy and stay safe during Sandy!!

Happy Creative Halloween!!

Halloween is right around the corner, I can't believe it's next week already!  It is a great time of  year for watching scary movies, making tasty treats, wonderful orange decorations, and interesting Halloween costumes.
I love drawing with charcoal this time of year because of the dark and sharp black color.  Here are some of the drawings that I've done:
Adding some color with the charcoal really makes the color pop and stand out.  These are some perfect decorations for this time of year.

What would Halloween be without a witches broom?
These are available on etsy.com if anyone is interested :)

Here is a charcoal/ graphite picture that I already posted on here earlier in the month but it fits the theme:

I love having drawings like this around the house for Halloween.

Now as for tasty treats - I have some things coming up that I have been looking at recipes for Halloween.  I figured I would share what I've found from Pinterest.

I hope you have fun with any Halloween festivities you have planned :)

Beaded Bracelets For Every Occasion

This month has been absolutely crazy!  I feel like I haven't had much time to blog or make a bunch of art and jewelry pieces.  We are getting into the lovely holiday season which always seems to fly by!  I am hoping to make more things to share with you in between the wedding planning and this crazy time of year.
Once again I have been expanding my jewelry.  Besides earrings, I have been working on more bracelets.  I have been finding myself wearing more and more beaded and wire bracelets myself so I figured why not try and make some!  I layer them and most of the time and end up wearing a different one every day almost.  Instead of the hemp and knotted bracelets, these are beaded ones that can wrap around your wrist a little.  These bracelets can fit more than one wrist type which is really nice.  The main wire is extremely light wight which I find more comfortable because sometimes wearing heavy chunky bracelets I always feel that weight on my wrist and I feel like I bang my bracelets into more things.  Maybe that's just me but I figured if I felt that way, maybe more people have that same feeling.
Here they are:
This bracelet has a combination of black and brown beads and 2 silver ones on the end.

This bracelet is my favorite so far!  I have been experimenting with twisting wire and love how it looks.  I want to make some matching earrings to wear with this bracelet using the same exact beads and silver wire twists.

I am going to be working on different bracelets that can be layered and not necessary match perfectly.  Even though it may be too early to think about presents, I am going to start coupon codes on my etsy shop so you don't have to only get deals after Thanksgiving.  My first one is OCT2012 for 10% off you order.  You will be able to put that code in when you check out.  I will be putting more items up on etsy tomorrow and the beginning of next week, be on the look out!!
I hope everyone has been able to enjoy the leaves changing colors and all of this wonderful weather, I know I am!!
Enjoy!

Shades of Pink Donation

During the Fall there is a concentration on breast cancer awareness.  Not too long ago I wrote a blog about the breast cancer fundraiser my mom and cousin founded.  Each year the event gets bigger and bigger, it's absolutely amazing what they have created!  This fundraiser and event is very close to the hearts of my immediate and extended family, it truly hits home.
I donate a piece of art each year.  In the past I have donated a Fall drawing, painting, and my sports hats.  This year I wanted to do something different.  I decided what would be better than a Shades of Pink vase of flowers!

This painting was put in a nice wooden frame with light green matting.  I chose green instead of pink because I wanted to pink flowers to stand out more and really pop.  I forgot to take a picture of the completed piece, but I am going to ask the woman who won if she could take a picture for me so I can post it for you to see.  When she won my painting she was really excited!  It was great seeing her reaction and the smile on her face!

We were all very tired from long night and days getting everything ready but the event was an absolute success!  It was so much fun and so many people came out to share the night with us.  We are still receiving donations but so far we have already made over $10,000!!
Here are some of the pictures from the event:

This weekend was also the annual Gloria Gemma 5k.  We had our own Shades Of Pink team!  In spirit of this I made some earrings to match our shirts:

These little ones with the wrapped silver wire are my favorite!
